You won’t believe what movies I love!

Today I thought I‘d share six of my favorite movies.
They‘re a strange mix of exactly what it is that makes me tick.
Find out by reading on!

Hello you beautiful reader!
I‘m going to share something really special with you today.
A list of some of my favorite movies!
Not special?
Well, to me movies are pretty special and they‘re probably the type of media that means the most to me.
This list also provides a very accurate look at what exactly it is that makes me tick.
There‘s action, B-movies, bad movies, Anime and even a romantic comedy!
These six films are so uniquely me that it‘s almost too weird to share.
As you‘ll see soon I don‘t care about whether or not a movie is considered good.
If I like I like it.
End of story.
Now, there‘s stuff I had to leave off because I came up with about a billion movies I adore.
In the end I choose these six as the most complete representation of my tastes.
Well, leaving off one movie in particular hurt really bad, but I might just make way more of these in the future and then I‘m totally gonna mention it.
Just a hint: it‘s a Christmas movie, cause I really adore that genre of film as well.
As for now these are six films that shaped my life for one reason or another.
They‘re the kind of films I can just put on and forget everything else around me.
Other than the last movie I‘m gonna mention they‘re in no particular order.
The last one, well, that‘s my favorite movie of all time.
That‘ll probably never change ever!
The order of the rest is up to debate or mood.
So, yeah, without further ado, here‘s a weird glimpse into my psyche.

The Matrix (1999)

I‘m mentioning this first because I can‘t watch it anymore.
I‘ve seen it way too many times!
It just doesn‘t excite me anymore.
It‘s boring.
But for over ten years this was my favorite film and it‘s still a good one – I‘ve just seen it way too often.
To say that it had a big impact on me as a person would be an understatement.
I‘ll never forget the day I first watched it almost twenty years ago in my parent‘s basement.
I knew that I had just seen something special.
In fact, it was so special that I‘d simply had to watch it again and again.
I even own the the ridiculously overpriced DVD collection with lots of bonus content and even Animatrix.
While Neo‘s adventures of waking up will never leave me again I can‘t foresee a time when I legit want to watch it again, so therefore this is the least of my favorite movies of all time.
Now, let‘s all take the red pill, shall we?

Ready to Rumble (2000)

Hey, here‘s something wrestling related!
What a surprise!
And yeah, I know.
This movie single-handedly destroyed WCW and handing the Championship to David Arquette in real life was a total disgrace.
I‘ve heard it all before, but I don‘t care.
I also don‘t care that this is pretty much not a good movie.
I mean, one of the main characters sticks a finger in his butt so that he doesn‘t have to pay for a Slurpee by pretending it stinks instead of his finger.
So, yeah, this isn‘t a good film.
But it‘s a really fun one about wrestling!
As great as The Wrestler is it‘s not really a movie I just want to crank up and chill to on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
This journey of two friends trying to help their favorite wrestler to former glory absolutely is.
It‘s a stupid film that ruined wrestling forever.
I know, but I just enjoy it too much to care.
Also, John Cena‘s in it!

South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut (1999)

To this day this is the only movie where after first watching it I rewound the VHS tape and watched it again.
And then the next day I watched it for the third time.
You know South Park, I don‘t have to explain it to you, but as a kid in the early odds this was a big deal.
The humor felt exactly catered towards me.
There‘s Satan, Saddam Hussein and, oh, this was a musical, too!
There‘s just something about the concept of it that shouldn‘t work.
But it‘s South Park and it does!
As someone who loves prequels making the movie version of the show the quasi origin story is just the icing on top of the Mr. Hanky sundae for me!
To this day it still holds up as the best r-rated cartoon ever made in my very humble opinion.
Oh look, they just killed Kenny!

Castle in the Sky (1986)

Time for an unpopular opinion.
This is my favorite Ghibli movie of all time.
I can‘t exactly explain why, it just is.
There‘s something about the fantasy and charm of this one that works better for me than with the other films.
I‘m not saying they‘re bad or anything, I‘m just saying that I enjoy this one more.
This is my very personal list of favorite films and I shouldn‘t have to justify why I like any of them.
Instead I‘ll just tell you that you should absolutely go check this film out if you haven‘t seen it yet.
Who knows, maybe you might even find that it‘s as good a movie as Spirited Away.

Power Rangers – The Movie (1995)

Yep.
I‘m not joking.
I‘m dead freaking serious!
Power Rangers- The Movie is one of my favorite films of all time.
Is the acting wooden and are the characters bad?
Yeah, I‘m not denying that.
But then you also can‘t deny me my love for it because this was my goddamn childhood.
To this day I love cheesy movies with practical effects (and Tokusatsu) and I blame this one for it.
But even if you can‘t say that this is a good film, then at the very least you have to admit that a movie that introduced me to the Red Hot Chili Peppers can‘t be all that awful, right?
So, I‘m gonna strap on my Power Ranger helmet, whip out the ooze and enjoy this cult classic of a movie whenever I feel like it and you can‘t do nothing about it!
Nothing!

When Harry Met Sally (1989)

Coincidentally this film is as old as I am!
And without a doubt this is my favorite movie of all time.
Everything else on this list can change in terms of how much I love it on a day to day basis, but this is my favorite film of all time.
Period.
I‘ve seen it too many times to count and it still brings me joy whenever I watch it.
I just revisited it a few days ago and from start to finish I was just enjoying myself.
Now, should I still like this film after over fifty viewings?
No, of course not!
I should find it as boring now as I do Matrix, but there‘s just something about it that keeps me coming back.
The story of how Harry and Sally fall in love (spoilers, I guess) is just so relatable to me and the humor is so spot on dead pan that it doesn‘t matter how many times I‘ve seen it, Harry‘s best friend (whose name I never remember) missing the baseball after he just told him he made a woman meow in bed just always leaves me in stitches.
Sure, the last ten minutes or so drag on a bit, but for a movie that‘s ninety minutes long consisting of only loosely related scenes that‘s tolerable.
I also love the fact that we get glimpses of a relationship more through indivudual scenes as opposed to trying to make a coherent story out of it.
The sketch like nature of this really works for me.
It makes it more immediate.
And yeah, I might be a bit voyeuristic, I know.
But I love everything about this film.
Even the seemingly mundane things such as the framing device of couples talking.
Everything here just oozes charm to me.
This movie just makes me feel good.
Whenever I feel down I can just take a break with Harry and Sally, my two best friends I‘ve never met and because of it this it‘ll always be my favorite film of all time.

And this were six of my favorite movies.
What are some of yours?
Tell me in the comments.
Feel free to share this list with your friends.
I‘ll see you next week for more shenanigans.
Have a great Sunday!
