Happy May Day everyone! Or don‘t you celebrate that in America?
Anyways, the Greatest Royal Rumble was a lot of fun, wasn‘t it? I will never forget the highlight of Titus O‘Neil‘s career. Such a wonderful mistake.
I suppose the rest of the event was actually quite wonderful as well.Yeah, I really enjoyed it.
But that was then and now we get to the first of my regularly scheduled reviews. Wooooooo!
I‘m not really in the mood for predictions and I‘m also not quite sure yet if I‘ll do them for weeklies as well or only for PPV‘s.
I think they‘ll talk about the Greatest Royal Rumble and how great it was. There‘s gonna be a segment with either Brock or Roman, although my money is on Roman, and Braun will do something awesome.
The new Tag Champs will also be pretty weird.
Other than that I have no idea… okay, Seth Rollins will have a match probably. Against Finn, perhaps.
Yup! Greatest Royal Rumble recap video package starts us off.
I wonder why Titus wasn‘t featured.
Oha, we‘re in Montreal Canadia tonight! And Roman gets booed. Yeah, I didn‘t predict that he‘d start the show, cause I thought it was already an expected thing at this point.
Boooooooo! Go home, Roman! he‘s just so beloved, isn‘t he? xD
He finally gets a word in and he‘s not gonna make any excuses, cause he‘s the real champ because it was a wrong decision to have Brock retain. That obviously doesn‘t stop the boos.
He‘s gonna be the Universal champ, he says.
He‘s a man of his word! He did beat Brock Lesnar!
Joe comes on the Titantron. It‘s hard to understand what he‘s saying cause the crowd is just so damn loud. I wonder why they decided to not turn the crowd noise down like they usually do.
Roman lost, and on sunday Joe will put his downward spiraling career to sleep. Huge pop from the crowd! But that‘s quickly squandered when the modern day maha… i can‘t spell that word! Jinder Mahal comes out.
Jeff cheated but he‘s not complaining. Roman lost and Roman will lose to Joe and tonight he‘ll lose to him! Wow, Jinder actually got a huge pop for that! It seems that everyone will get positive reactions against Roman.
Oh my god! Sami Zayn comes out! Yes! He‘s a Canadian and they say that he grew up 15 minutes from the arena.
Wow, this is beautiful! The whole Arena chants his theme!
The crowd is nuts for him, and they get even more nuts when he starts to speak in french.
He says that they complain about the Rumble when he wasn‘t even in it due to injury.
But he‘s feeling better tonight! He will be the one fighting Roman tonight.
Hahaha! Kevin Owens now comes out. He grew up 35 minutes from Montreal.
Of course he gets intense pops. Let‘s hear what he has to say.
God the crowd is nuts, i gotta tell you!
Also french, so I can‘t comment on what he‘s saying.
And now english! He knows Sami can beat Roman but people want to see Roman versus Owens!
He wants the crowd to decide who‘ll fight Roman.
Jinder gets boos.
And Kevin gets the loudest reaction.
Roman attacks Owens and the other wrestlers now all attack Roman together.
Bobby Lashley comes to Roman‘s aid.
Do I smell a six men tag as the main event? I certainly do cause BRAAAAAAUUUUN comes out as well!
And after the commercials they make that six men match official.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Elias!
Is it just me or does he have a slight lisp tonight?
He talks about the people he eliminated in the Rumble and he has a song for us as well.
It‘s truly magnificent how much Elias is getting over recently.
Glorious interruption!
Roode against Elias, who‘ll win?
Roode, probably.
During the match they do the thing they‘ve been doing recently where they show one of their commercials over the match. It‘s just so annoying! I wish they‘d stop that.
I think I enjoyed their match last week a bit more.
It‘s not bad, but I don‘t really feel the magic.
Bobby and Elias don‘t seem like two Superstars that click in the ring. They make Bobby‘s throat into a story when Elias targets it throughout. The match is actually stopped after a viscous ring-post to the throat. Was this planned or real?
Elias picks up the mic and announces himself as the winner.
What a forgettable match.
Tag team action next! The Authors Of Pain, who will they kill this week?
Charly talks to the jobbers who‘ll face them. Those two talk a bit in french. They never back down from a challenge.
Are they huge Indy stars or something? They get big pops from the crowd. They are probably just local talent and that‘s why.
Super Collider to the jobbers, followed by the last chapter and the match is over.
Well, that was quick and painless.
Not for the jobbers though.
AOP scream a bit into the mics. There‘s gonna be chapter in the book of pain for every single tag team on Raw.
The architect makes his way to the ring. He‘s burning it down, all right!
He praises the audience for being wild. His last month has been wild as well, he says.
Which he recaps a bit, focusing on the Intercontinental Title.
He plays to the crowd a lot, allowing them to get more words in than him. He thanks them in french. Merci Buko, or something xD
time to talk about his future! He doesn‘t want to be like Brock Lesnar, who‘s not the legit Universal champion. Roman‘s feet hit the floor first after all. He doesn‘t want to only show up when he wants to, he wants to be a fighting champion every Monday night.
Balor comes out as I knew he would.
Can they please do something with his demon gimmick again soon?
Balor says that his name is Balor in french to which Corey replies that it‘s contagious! It really is! There‘s been a lot of french already tonight! I actually like it, it makes WWE seem more, well, worldly, I guess.
Balor had a lot of time on the flight back to reflect. Seth beat him.
They‘ve had four single matches which each of them won two of.
He demands a title match tonight, to decide who‘s the better of the two.
Seth replies that on Sunday he‘ll face the Miz, but he allows the audience to decide whether the two of them should fight tonight. The audience agrees and… Miz‘s music hits… and Curtis and Bo come out.
They should worry about what‘s best for them, they say. All of them should be fighting together, not against each other.
They apologize for last week, saying they should‘ve had a group conversation. They reveal insane shirts with all of their faces on.
Bo calls the four of them the four horsemen of the WWE.
LOL
Seth refuses.
Bo and Curtis respond by sucker-punching them. And after they fight back Finn attacks Seth from behind. Nice!
Tag match probably.
Hahahahahha! They actually talk about Titus and he‘ll be on Raw with the tag line „Tripping Worldwide“. That‘s just hilarious! There‘s no one better at making mistakes into gold than the WWE.
So help me god, cause Ruby Riott is in a match against Sasha Banks.
Why can‘t I just care about them? They are both so lame since they are on the main roster.
Charly talks to Sasha before the match happens. What the boss says is pretty much irrelevant blabbering.
Bayley, who I also enjoyed more in NXT but don‘t mind as much, is watching the match backstage.
The match is serviceable, but I‘m seriously getting sick of both Sasha Banks and the Riott Squad.
Pretty competitive back and forth, but it‘s hard to get into a match, no matter how good it is, when you just don‘t care about the performers.
Logan and Morgan get involved at ringside and Ruby is dominating Sasha.
No matter what Ruby throws at her, however, Sasha always kicks out.
Sasha locks a Bank‘s Statement but it‘s broken off by the other members.
After a Riott Kick Ruby can finally pin her.
Yeah, if you care about the two involved you‘d probably say this was a pretty good match, for me it was not.
The wrestling hasn‘t been anything special so far tonight, now, has it?
I thought this was a go home show?
Another hilarious Moment of Bliss anti Bullying PSA is next. God it‘s so hilarious! It‘s a cup! You just sit! In a cup! xD
Alexa, will you marry me?
Oha! Our main event will not be a tag match, but actually the match I wanted to see! Seth versus Balor for the Intercontinental Title! Nice! Can‘t wait!
Titus WorldSlide!!!!!!!!
He‘s interviewed and they play his slip up to him again.
He reacts by admitting that he planned it, and then saying that no, he just failed.
It‘s important to not stay down, get back up. The lone wolf interrupts and says it would have been more inspirational if Titus wouldn‘t have fallen at all.
Oh my god! This is hilarious!
And now, let me quote Corey Gaves: The expedition of gold has been completed!
Hardy reads a book in the video segment. His story is real! They‘ve transcended time and space! We get a photo montage of photoshoped pictures of him and Bray in famous moments throughout history.
I can‘t anymore! This is too funny!
Bray interjects and says something about darkness and consumption.
The deletes of worlds are here!
The six men tag match from the top of the show is next.
I‘m not sure who‘ll win, cause it could go either way. The heel team has two Canadians in it after all.
Roman and Jinder start this thing. The crowd wants Sami cause the ole ole chants are deafining and therefore Jinder tags Sami in immediately.
He in turn tags in Kevin. So far nobody is wrestling. Another revolving tag. Roman is getting angry so he starts beating Sami who‘s in the ring at the moment. The two of them brawl on the outside a bit.
Jinder tags himself in and Roman is stranded in the heel‘s corner, but manages to tag in Bobby.
It‘s Jinder versus Bobby now.
The heels isolate him in their corner.
The heels are pretty dominating.
Sami fights him next.
Lashley tries to land the vertical suplex on him, but Owens intercepts and tags in.
He beats Lashley up a bit and Jinder‘s big in it now.
Gotta say, Jinder is looking more and more dominant by the minute.
Kevin‘s back. Lashley just can‘t get to his corner.
Another ad during the match. Not done with annoying me just yet, are you?
The match Kevin is having with Bobby right now is pretty sweet. Call me a K.O. fanboy, but you can‘t deny that he‘s amazing in the ring.
Roman and Braun now cheer on Lashley to get him to make the tag.
This is the first match of the night that really interests me, gotta say.
The face tags in Roman and Kevin tags in his best friend forever.
Romen/Zayn now!
Oh, the fans hate Roman! It‘s a brutal beating he dishes out on Sami.
He attempts the Superman punch and gets interrupted by Sunil.
Roman and Sami spar a bit more. It‘s hard to take Roman seriously because of how much the fans shit on him.
Kevin tags in and manages a near count on roman, which earns him thunderous boos.
Please have the heels win, please.
Sami‘s back, they sure are quick with the tags! Oh, yeah, the faces haven‘t really been dominant in this. Team Kevin has been able to keep whoever‘s in the ring isolated.
Roman fights back, lands a Superman punch on Owens, while Jinder tags and cheap shots Lashley.
Roman now manages to tag in Braun and he jumps out of the ring and decks everybody on the outside.
Roman spears Mahal but gets kicked by Kevin. Strowman powerslams Owens and wins for his team. and now they mute the audience audio.
I can‘t imagine they liked that ending.
Sure, Braun wins, but the hometown heroes lost.
But yeah, this was a great match! Really good!
They show another Greatest Rumble Highlight package and this time it focuses on interviews with fans. Pretty okay, I guess.
Remember when Corbin punched No Way Jose last week? Yeah, well, they fight tonight!
Will they? My bet is that Corbin is just gonna beat up No Way beforehand once more. No, he talks before it. He rhymes stupidly. The audience shits on him and he gets flustered. Titus has two left feet and No Way is also dumb.
Nonsense makes the lone wolf puke.
He doesn‘t want to make people laugh he wants to beat people up and when he‘s done no one will be laughing.
Thank god for Jose and his Conga Line, cause this was hard to sit through!
They ring the bell and it starts pretty even. Corbin mocks Jose. A few blows to Jose follow. Now it‘s all Corbin, all the time.
Jose ducks away when Corbin tries to jump on him and now he flips his way into our hearts, but Baron gets out of the way and… Titus O‘Neil with his posse comes out! Apollo and Dana make sure that the ramp is not slippery so that he won‘t fall again. He tries to enter the ring but slips on the apron and falls down yet again. While Corbin makes fun of him Jose comes from behind and pins him.
Jose and Titus Worldslide party it up together!
This was a moment not a match and as a moment this was pretty entertaining. Three Way feud, I wonder?
Make-A-Wish-Day Commercial Promo is next. John Cena will wrestle an octopus? Yes, please! xD
Another women‘s division match follows. Another one I don‘t really care about. Natalya versus Mickie James.
They are really building the story that Natalya and Ronda are friends, and because of that, it‘s okay to me.
I‘m just gonna buy that they‘re friends.
Mickie was before my time though and I just can‘t stand Natalya‘s personality.
But everything that involves Ronda and Alexa in some form or other is great to me! Oh, yeah, they‘re both at ringside.
Look at that, I‘m actually enjoying this match so far.
Look, it‘s not that I don‘t like women‘s wrestling, I love it actually, I just don‘t really care for most of the women on the Raw roster, sorry.
Alexa tries to get involved, but Ronda chases her around the ring. This leads to Natalya pinning Mickie. Where did the match go? You had a great thing going, why did you end it so quickly?
Anyway, Alexa stands at the ramp entrance when Nia Jax comes out. Alexa flees in horror.
Nia and Ronda stare at each other a bit and she then celebrates with the two other faces.
A bunch of Backlash match announcements follow, but I‘ll talk about that when I‘ll review that show. However, I‘ll mention that Kevin and Zayn will face Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman. Look, I get that you put Zayn and Owens in tag matches, but the other two are way too good for the tag division if you ask me. That doesn‘t mean Sami and Owens aren‘t, they just gel so well together that a tag team simply makes sense.
McIntyre and Ziggler Video Message Promo sees them telling the other Superstars that they should be afraid of the two of them.
Why aren‘t they fighting Zayn and Owens?
Main Event , Shmayn Event! What rhymes with main? Vein? Vain? Lame?
This main event however doesn‘t appear to be lame on paper. Let‘s see how good Rollins versus Balor round five will be.
I‘m pretty sure no one will win and instead the orphaned Miztourage will interfere.
Finn starts off aggressively. He wants the title so badly!
Rollins however doesn‘t want to give it up lightly!
After the commercials Rollins seems to be in control.
Those two can‘t have a bad match against each other can they?
They‘re physically unable to phone it in.
Springboard Clothesline to Finn and the crowd goes nuts! Finn is on the outside and Seth suicide dives at Finn.
Balor counters the second attempt and now the action is back inside the ring. Balor manages a near count on Seth and he‘s besides himself for not getting it done.
Dropkick to Seth and another near fall.
Yeah, no, this is a good main event! Hooray! Applause! This is great!
Balor vocalizes a bit and the things he say make me wonder if he‘s turning heel little by little.
He appears to be more aggressive and antagonistic towards Seth.
seth is fired up now! Kick to the gut of Balor and a failed Curb Stomp attempt.
Balor attacks and can‘t pin him.
he attempt the Coup de Graz when Seth shoves him off the top rope. Both wrestlers are now on top and Balor manages to throw him off, Seth runs back up and lands a Superplex on Balor, who picks him up and throws him as well. He goes for the pin and…SETH KICKS OUT!
WOW!
This is intense!
The crowd is right, this IS awesome!
As they are exhausted, the pace slows a bit and yet they are giving their best!
Seth is outside and Finn jumps at him from inside.
Back in the ring he dropkicks Rollins and attempts another Coup de Grace, but he misses. They now exchange some wild near falls!
Slingblade to Rollins and Rollins kicks Balor across the face! No one manages to pin the other.
Curbstomp to Rollins and he pins Balor!
Yeah, this was a great main event! Awesome match!
No one inteferred as well! Nice show of restraint WWE Creative!
Now, did I like the entire show?
Not really, the first half was kind of meh, and they had a couple of matches that did just go nowhere.
The six men tag and the Intercontinental Title match were amazing though.
Mixed bag, but the positives far outshine the negatives!
